Autumn at Ermington Store and More
There’s something about autumn that makes us want to slow down a little.
The evenings draw in, the first leaves start to turn, and there’s something rather appealing about settling down with a coffee, getting stuck into a craft project, or spending an evening learning something new.
And there’s certainly plenty going on at Ermington Store & More this autumn. Our Hub is an increasingly busy part of village life, with regular groups alongside workshops, talks and opportunities to meet up with friends and neighbours.
So, if you’re wondering what’s coming up, here’s a little autumn round-up…
🎨 Crafty & Creative
Our Crafty & Creative sessions take place on the second Saturday of every month, from 10am to noon.
These are relaxed, friendly sessions for anyone who enjoys making things — whether you're an experienced crafter or simply fancy having a go at something creative.
Bring along your current project, try something new, or just come for the company. And, of course, you can always combine a morning of creativity with a coffee from the café!
Next session: Saturday 10 October, 10am–12 noon.
💃 Dance for young people
Every Friday, the Hub comes alive with the energy of DP Dance Company, who hold their regular dance sessions at 4.30pm.
It's fantastic to see the Hub being used throughout the week by groups of all ages. From creative activities to dance, history and community meetings, there's always something happening behind those doors!
📖 Local History: The Wartime Diaries of Devon
History lovers have something particularly interesting to look forward to this September.
On Tuesday 22 September at 7pm, Ermington Local History Group will be bringing us The Wartime Diaries of Devon, a talk by Dr Todd Gray of Exeter University
It's a chance to discover more about life in Devon during wartime and hear the stories that bring this important period of local history to life.
If you've never been along to one of the Local History Group's talks before, why not give it a try? You don't need to be a history expert — just bring your curiosity!
🪟 Get creative with glass
Our popular fused glass workshops with KT Creates are back, with three dates to look forward to:
📅 Saturday 26 September 📅 Saturday 21 November 📅 Saturday 12 December
These hands-on workshops are suitable for beginners, so you don't need any previous experience. You'll have the chance to design and make your own unique piece of fused glass while learning the techniques and having a good time along the way.
The September workshop is a particularly lovely way to welcome autumn — and with November and December dates already planned, there are opportunities to get creative as the year draws towards Christmas too.
🏡 September is also the time for our Annual Members' Meeting.

The Annual Members' Meeting is your opportunity to hear about what has been happening at the Store & More, find out about our plans for the future and have your say as a member of our community-owned venture.
We'd love to see as many members as possible there.
☕ More than just what's on
Of course, you don't need to come along to a particular event to make use of the Hub.
The shop and café are open throughout the week, providing somewhere to pick up your essentials, grab a coffee and cake, meet a friend or simply have a bit of a chat. That's really what Ermington Store & More is all about - a place for the community to come together.
The Hub is also available for community groups, meetings, activities and events, and we're delighted to see it being used for such a wide range of things.
So as the summer fades and autumn arrives, why not make a little more time for your community?
Come for a coffee. Come for a class. Come for a talk. Come and make something. Or just come and say hello.
